Taking Control

I couldn't let it go anymore, so here I am taking control of my body. In 2007, I had the LapBand done. Read my blog here if you are interested in that journey (http://www.heathras.blogspot.com/). I have been very successful in losing the weight, but after 6 years complications are starting to affect my eating and drinking. Most days I can't keep food down, some days I can't even get liquids down, my body is in starvation mode, and my acid reflux is horrendous and 24/7. I can't take it anymore. My son needs his mom to have a normal eating life style no matter what type of bariatric surgery I have had done. This is not a good example to him (in my eyes). Today, I am taking back control. I am sitting in the hospital awaiting my appointment to have fluid from my band removed so I can eat and drink, which will allow me to take the meds I need to take as well. Today's appointment will consist of them putting me on a table, tilting it up slightly to the flouroscopy machine, then I will drink barium, they will then access my post with a syringe, and extract fluid from the band to loosen it. The flouro machine will also show them if my esophagus is swollen/stretched out. Which will help the surgeon I am seeing on Friday see issues I'm having. A year ago when I was having issues, the PA said I needed to have a revision....which means a surgery to remove the lapband and have another procedure done. Friday, I have a consultation with the surgeon to discuss my options. We shall see. So expect another post about what the future holds. I am scared and very nervous. Last year I couldn't do this, because I had a one year old and was going through a divorce. This year looks very different. But still I am scared of something happening during surgery and leaving my child motherless and the love of my life with out me. :( But the surgeon I'm seeing is a specialist and had done this surgery thousands of times. Stay tuned....

New Chapter

Life has been a whirlwind the past 4 years and I am looking forward to the many adventures that lie ahead. I'm ready to start blogging about life in general with a specific focus on fitness. The love of my life and my son will also be big parts of this blog as well.
